Zanzibar – Nairobi (1½ Hour Flight)

Get ready to begin your African adventure! We’ll pick you up from your hotel or resort and transfer you to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport for your afternoon flight.

At 16:00 hrs (4:00 pm), take off over the stunning Indian Ocean, then watch as the landscape transitions to the lush fields and forests of Kenya below.

You’ll arrive in Nairobi at 17:30 hrs (5:30 pm), where a Natural World Kenya Safaris driver will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. Enjoy a relaxing dinner and a restful night—tomorrow, your journey continues with a flight to the world-famous Masai Mara.

Nairobi – Masai Mara

After a hearty breakfast at your hotel, your driver will transfer you to Wilson Airport for your flight to the Masai Mara. At 10:30 am, you’ll take off on a scenic one-hour flight over Kenya’s sprawling savannah, bathed in the soft morning light.

Upon landing at the airstrip just outside the reserve, your Natural World Kenya Safaris driver/guide will welcome you and escort you to your private open-sided 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep—the perfect vehicle for game viewing.

A short drive brings you to your Mara safari lodge or tented camp where you’ll enjoy lunch before embarking on your first exhilarating game drive.

Keep your eyes peeled for the “Big Five” — lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, rhino, and elephant — as well as the rich variety of other wildlife. The Mara boasts one of the densest concentrations of animals in Africa, from graceful antelope and gazelles to giraffes, and smaller species such as dik-dik, foxes, aardwolves, mongooses, baboons, monkeys, and warthogs.

As the sun sets, we’ll return to your lodge for a delicious dinner, relaxation, and to share stories of the day’s incredible sightings.

Full Day at the Masai Mara

We’re on safari so let’s rise with the birds and enjoy the morning light on these golden savannahs, complemented with endless, signature acacia trees.

The day is yours, so discuss with your driver/guide what areas you would like to explore. He’s the expert and knows where any particular wildlife is likely to be found.

If you’re here during the Great Migration (July – October), he will likely suggest a visit or even a picnic down by the Mara River. This is the site of an unbelievable influx of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle flooding into the park from the neighboring Serengeti on their annual migration route.

Of course, waiting for these thousands of grazers are the predators – crocodiles in the river and all the big cats throughout the park. This can be a scene of extraordinary drama as each species plays out its role as designed by nature.

For an unforgettable experience of the migration and the park, we offer an optional early morning hot air balloon safari. As the park lights up you’ll rise above the fields and great trains of wildebeests below for thrilling views of the Mara. Not to be missed!

Here’s another opportunity, a cultural moment to enjoy and enrich your safari: take advantage of our optional visit to a local village to meet the Maasai people. Learn about their pastoral lives and their culture; perhaps purchase one of their brightly beaded handicrafts.

Toward evening, look for one of the Mara’s spectacular sunsets as we turn and head back to our safari lodge or tented camp for dinner and our final night.

Maasai Mara – Nairobi – Zanzibar
(One Hour Flight to Nairobi & 90-Minute Flight to Zanzibar)

It’s our final safari morning, so let’s revisit our favorite spots or perhaps discover a new viewing area before we say goodbye to the Mara.

After breakfast, we’ll head to the airstrip for our 11:15 am flight back to Nairobi. As we take off and turn north, enjoy one last breathtaking view of the Masai Mara.

We expect to land at Nairobi’s Wilson Airport at 12:15 pm, where one of our drivers will meet you and transfer you to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your evening flight.

Your 19:15 hrs (7:15 pm) flight will take you on a scenic 90-minute journey back to Zanzibar.

Upon arrival at Zanzibar’s Abeid Karume International Airport, a Natural World Kenya Safaris driver will be waiting to take you back to your hotel.
